Michael Jackson’s Song Released After Death: Abortion is “Against the Words of God”

Michael Jackson’s Song Released After Death: Abortion is “Against the Words of God” January 13, 2015

Sadly, there are so many stories of celebrities admitting they’ve had an abortion, and talking about how much heartache it caused. These stories are sad, but important to let people know how devastating abortion really is! I’m going to do a series of blog posts about some of those stories, hoping we can all learn from their mistakes and pray that God would heal their heartache… and that people will quit seeing abortion as the way to handle an unwanted pregnancy.

We’ve been talking about musicians who have spoken out about abortions.  Did you know Michael Jackson wrote a song about the topic? And it was pro-life! The song was called “Abortion Papers.” It was recorded in the 80s, not too long after Roe v. Wade, but wasn’t released until after Michael Jackson died.

It came out on a 25th anniversary edition of the album Bad. His notes show he tried to do the song in a sensitive way, without making people feel guilty. It shows the story of a girl who’s conflicted about having an abortion because she was raised in a Christian home, and the heartbreak it causes her baby’s father. The lyrics say:

Those abortion papers

Signed in your name against the words of God

Those abortion papers

Think about life

I’d like to have my child

It’s actually a catchy tune. Hopefully since it sticks in a person’s head, it’ll make more women think twice before they sign abortion papers. In case you missed them, here are some other celebrities who’ve admitted their abortions caused heartbreak:

  1. Lisa Robertson, wife of Duck Dynasty’s Al Robertson
  2. Nicki Minaj
  3. Stevie Nicks
  4. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and his ex-girlfriend
