Who are you?

Who are you? May 13, 2016

Where are you coming from!  We have ways of making you talk! So now that I seem to be picked up by some pretty awesome cites here and there, I notice that every now and then my page views will spike.  I mean spike.  I mean zillions of hits in a single morning out of nowhere.  And when this happens, the source is always “Facebook”.  I can see if there is sudden traffic from, say, The American Catholic, or Pewsitter, or Big Pulpit, or Two Catholic Men and a Blog or even the National Catholic Register, as well as many other great websites (this is called a plug by the way).  I can see what they’re up to and why the rush, and which post they’re referencing.

But I can’t see what Facebook page the traffic is coming from.  That vexes me.  I’m truly vexed.  Yet I have hope that someday, someone will spill the beans and admit who it is that keeps linking my blog to their Facebook page.  Oddly, I never link it to my own Facebook page, but that’s because I seldom visit my Facebook page.  You know I’m boring when my own Facebook page isn’t interesting enough for me to visit.

Speaking of comments.  I get emails from folks, and some really awesome regulars do comment here and there on my posts.  Like this wonderful reflection from reader Nate Winchester on the post about the Transgender disregard for women’s sensitivities:

I think it’s time we all reread Lewis’ the Abolition of Man and realize he warned us all over 40 years ago.
“The very power of [textbook writers] depends on the fact that they are dealing with a boy: a boy who thinks he is ‘doing’ his ‘English prep’ and has no notion that ethics, theology, and politics are all at stake. It is not a theory they put into his mind, but an assumption, which ten years hence, its origin forgotten and its presence unconscious, will condition him to take one side in a controversy which he has never recognized as a controversy at all.” -From that book

I can’t think of a better appraisal of the problems we have today with one generation after another ready to chuck freedom and liberty so that boys can shower with girls with the strong arm of the government backing them up.

I notice the emails, though.  I don’t mind emails, don’t get me wrong.  But is the comments section on my blog somehow not user friendly?  Is there some reason people prefer sending emails rather than posting a comment? Please feel free to comment on anything you think could use improvement.  And as always, thanks for the comments and the patronage.  I still am amazed that people find my thoughts worth coming all this way to read.  I hope I make the time worth while.
