Dumpster Dive!

I’ve gone dumpster diving a time or two myself. The best time of year to go around here is in early May when all the university students are heading home for the summer. I’ve gotten wood, furniture, rugs, clothes, all kinds of things in great shape. I feel surprisingly subversive as I empty the car out, grab the stepladder and the hand sanitizer and head out for campus and the surrounding apartment complexes. I have to keep an eye out for cops or campus employees or I could get fined for helping to slow the tide of trash heading to the landfill. I feel like a trash ninja, peering into dumpsters, never knowing if I’ll find something rotty or wonderful. I’m looking forward to spring.
