January Thaw

January Thaw January 24, 2010

We’ve had a nice thaw for the past couple of days. It got up to 43 degrees today, so we went for a walk to the park and I took the opportunity to take a few photos. I was really enjoying the reflections in the puddles and the lacy tree branches today.

I wish I could share my whole sensory experience over the internet. The smell of the earth was on the gentle wind, combined with the aroma of the barbeque that a neighbor had fired up. The soil was squishy under my feet, and the grass was sending up tiny green tips. There’s nothing like that very first growth of grass before it’s been mowed. It’s like babies hair before it’s been cut. Fine and delicate and soft.
Here’s me playing with the timer function on my camera. It’s hard to pose in only 10 seconds.
