Postcard Friendship Friday!

Postcard Friendship Friday! February 4, 2010

I love this postcard. It’s one of my favorites in my collection (thus far). It’s not that I’m so in love with the street or the crowd of people on the front of the card. J’adore the back. Look at that handwriting. The finesse and flair! If I could write Mademoiselle like that, you know I would be so devastating. Alas, I will have to content myself with imagining what kind of elegant person penned the back of that postcard. I imagine someone who wore black trenchcoats and smoked cigarettes they way they did back when it was still beautiful.

I think that’s one of my favorite things about postcards. The mystery inherent within them, the little anecdotes and stories written on them. Fragments of lives recorded, floating through time like a distant song, faintly heard.
So here I am adding to the postcard pool, doing my part to entertain people both of the present and the future. I am working on making 10 art postcards to send in my very first swap over at IHanna’s lovely blog. I’m using paintings that my daughter did when she was little as the base. It’s amazing how lovely and free they are. I can’t wait to see how they turn out!
