I love that shot. What a view! I wonder what they were looking at when their behinds were immortalized in a photo. A parade maybe? The postcard is from an exhibit on the beginnings of photography in England, so maybe they were looking at a young Queen Victoria? Whatever it was, it was surely something grand. They did grand in those days. We don’t really do grand anymore. Spectacular, yup. Glittering and gorgeous, sure. Grand, not so much. Oh well, that’s what old postcards are for!
The back of this one indicates that it was a reprint of the original photo in the early 1970s to a family in Ann Arbor. They’re talking about books and lists, so maybe someone was a scholar or a professor, since it was bound for the hometown of UofM. I love the questions. It’s so much fun to make up stories to go with them!
