Monet and Light

Monet and Light April 19, 2010

I took a couple of pictures in my basement. As I do my laundry, I notice the light more down where it’s limited than outside on a bright sunny day. It’s the lack of light, that makes it more beautiful.

I’ve been thinking about the Senses, Leah’s theme for the month over at Creative Every Day. I’ve been pondering sight. I love light. The more immersed I become in creativity and art, the more I become obsessed with light. I remember the first time I really pondered what light meant, back in high school I was walking through the Chicago Art Museum and was looking at Monet’s paintings of Notre Dame in different lights. Morning, afternoon, overcast, sunny. By the way, here’s a great site to see more of Monet’s works.

So I’m challenging myself this week to go out and find as many kinds of light as I can and record them. I’m calling it my Monet Challenge. Wish me luck!
