One Earth One Heart Giveaway!

One Earth One Heart Giveaway! January 29, 2011

As part of the very cool One World One Heart bloghop we’re supposed to introduce ourselves.

I’m never very good at introductions. I’m a person who flubs that whole first impression thing. I tend to spill wine all over myself, or trip, or just sound like a incoherent goofball. It takes me a while to get used to new people. I like to take my time, to see what they do. I’m an introvert, and while I can down a drink and chat it up, mostly that’s not how I get to know people. I’m big on actions speaking louder than words. I’m an artist, and words don’t always come easily. Sometimes they trickle like a clear spring, and sometimes they’re just mud.
My mind live in a world of symbols and connections. Logic and intuition mingle and I kind of like it that way, but in a world of symbols, words look more like poetry than small talk. So here’s a little introduction for you:
Sometimes I feel tired, or sad.
In my minds eye I see a tree
tall and swaying with a wild wind
I look up and the golden branches flow through the sky
as the sunset paints the world with a gentle brush
I touch the bark (still in my mind)
It is rough and beautiful
and I am happy.
I sit by my tree, and look out onto a lake
the winds of change whip up the waters
and I wonder where we will go
and my children are in my thoughts
and my husband is in my thoughts
and my community is in my thoughts
and my world is in my thoughts
and I am ready to stand up again.
I would like to share a little of my art with people, so I will give away one of my original hand carved block prints to two people as part of the One World One Heart giveaway.
This is my knitting spider. She’s all tangled in thread and her UFO is looking like it’s going to be frogged, but she keeps at it still. She’s printed with soy based ink on vintage paper.

This is my newest lino-cut blockprint, a fox sleeping in the winter chill. She’s also printed with soy based ink, mounted on a vintage music sheet, and then on a strathmore artist’s paper. I carve each block by hand, and then print each print using a hand crank printing press or by burnishing by hand.

To enter to win just leave a comment. I’ll randomly choose the winner on February 17th

I’m thrilled to be participating in the One World One Heart event this year, hosted by Lisa over at A Whimsical Bohemian. Please wander over and check out all the wonderful blogs involved.
