Painting: Inspiration of the Earth

Painting: Inspiration of the Earth June 27, 2011
I pulled out my papers and started cutting on Saturday to finish my small painting. After affixing them with matte acrylic medium, I adjusted a couple of things on my lady, focusing on her hands and arms, which needed the most work.

I worked more on my mermaid painting, adding shadows and some depth to her body, and defining her face with shadow. Hands continue to be challenging. It’s one thing to realistically sketch a large sketch of my hands, and it’s a completely different technique to paint hands on a body within a painting that look realistic and natural. I obviously need practice.

Here’s the finished product:
Inspiration of the Earth 8″x8″ acrylic and mixed media.
She was donated to the Mid-Michigan Pagan Council to be raffled off at their Potluck Picnic. I was happy to see that her basket was very full of tickets, and I got lots of good feedback. Next time I should make sure to have some business cards with me. I’ve still got a lot to learn about this whole artist thing.
