Thrifty Art Thursday: Making a Fall wreath from Sweater Scraps

Thrifty Art Thursday: Making a Fall wreath from Sweater Scraps October 20, 2011
Hi again! I’m so pleased to be doing Thrifty Art Thursday features again. This summer was filled with kids, and gardening and vacations, so I’m not really complaining. But it is fun to share the little projects that I do.
As the cold settles in a little more deeply, I’ve been pulling out my sweaters and hats and thinking warm cozy thoughts. I came across a bunch of lovely fall colored sweater scraps and was inspired to make this wreath:
This is what I started with:
Then I started out by taking rectangles of sweater scraps and wrapping them around the wreath and stitching them in place. It doesn’t matter if the scrap doesn’t completely wrap around the wreath, as long as it covers the fronts and sides.

And here’s a little video showing how I make the embellishments for the wreath, both the leaves and the roses:
I could totally see doing this for winter with blues and whites and snowflakes, or christmas with red and green and holly leaves. It gives a great warm fuzzy feeling everytime I walk into my house now. Thanks for reading, and I hope it was helpful!
