Links for the Ladies

Links for the Ladies February 23, 2016

So I want to start a new trend here at The Broken Quill, called “Links for the Ladies.” These links will take you to something to read or watch, and they’ll be centered around issues that primarily have to do with women’s issues: feminism, friendship, marriage, motherhood, and even (gasp!) sex. Most will border on the serious side, but you know me – I’m not afraid of a good giggle.

So let’s get started. I’ll comment as we go along.

I met with a lady this week who has recently left her church and is trying to connect in a new church. She commented on how there were a lot of hurt feelings amongst those at the church she left. In my experience, whether a person leaves or stays at a church, hurt feelings can become a regular part of assembling together. Fact is, forgiven people are sinful people, and just because we have Jesus in our hearts does not mean we are not capable of hurting others, or being hurt by others. In fact, sometimes we may feel like church is nothing but an exercise in how to develop rhino skin. If you know what I’m talking about, click here to help you keep those hurt feelings from turning to bitterness. It’s a fantastic read you’ll want to keep tucked away in your “favorites” file.

Every night this week, I’ve said to myself, “Self. Make that bread dough.” I haven’t done it yet. But tonight, I’m going to. (Hush, crickets. I’m seriously going to.) It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s no knead. It probably tastes good. Next week, I’ll let you know how it went. You can find the recipe here for “No-knead Overnight Artisan Bread.”

In today’s culture, it’s easy to think God is anti-sex. If you’ve ever had that thought creep into your mind, this article is for you. God is pro-sex, but only within the boundaries He has laid out for us.

And the last one for this week:

Wretched is a tv program that is usually quite funny (and true), but this video is mostly just true, since it covers a serious issue. No woman, at any time, is ever guilty for being violated. Ever. But many who have suffered under the hand of an abuser feel guilty in addition to violated. Watch this video for an explanation as to why she doesn’t need forgiven, because she isn’t guilty. If the video doesn’t work for you, you can see it by clicking here.
