Beautiful Greenville

Beautiful Greenville June 21, 2011

Some years ago I took an online quiz to “find my spot.” The website asked several questions about your preferred city characteristics and at the end provided your best matches. I was living in Greenville, South Carolina at that time. Surprisingly, out of all cities in the US, Greenville was my second best match. Tulsa, Oklahoma was number one. When I saw the results I said to myself, no wonder I like living here.

Since I left Greenville in 2002, the city has continued to grow and develop, especially downtown. It’s a great city. Here are some pictures I took last week while visiting.

(top: Westin Poinsett Hotel. Named after Greenville native Joel Poinsett who introduced the poinsettia to the US while serving as ambassador to Mexico. Yes, poinsettias are Mexican and yes, they are named after a man)

The Peace Center and old building by the Reedy River. I heard President George Bush speak at this open-air building in 2002. I was helping with the logistics of the visit.
