Catholic Lobbyist to Speak at Sacred Heart

Catholic Lobbyist to Speak at Sacred Heart July 7, 2011

Frank Mulcahy is the lobbyist for the Catholic Church in Georgia and executive director of the Georgia Catholic Conference. The agenda and priorities of the Georgia Catholic Conference are directly set by the Archbishop of Atlanta and the Bishop of Savannah. Mulcahy will speak at Sacred Heart Church in Warner Robins on Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 at 7pm on his role as lobbyist and on issues facing the Georgia legislatures today.

At the conclusion of this year’s legislative session in Atlanta, Mulcahy submitted a report to the bishops which touched upon several topics of which the Church has great interest. These included immigration, education, abortion, adoption and taxation.

Bishop Boland has affirmed that, “As Catholics we are called to promote the common good and protect the human dignity of all human persons. One way we do this is through participating in the legislative process…. [The Georgia Catholic Conference] will try to influence and modify legislation so that it is consistent with the common good.”

The Church has much to contribute to the ongoing debates and discussions happening in society at large. As Christians we are called to be the light of the world at all times and in all places, including in the political process. Mulcahy’s responsibility is to make the voice and wisdom of the Catholic Church heard within the political process of our state.

Mulcahy is a native of Philadelphia and a lifelong Catholic who has lived in the Atlanta area with his wife since 1977. A graduate of St. Joseph University, Philadelphia, and the George Washington University Law School, Washington, D.C, he is an attorney at the Tinsley Bacon Tinsley Law Firm.

All are invited to this event. Invite your family and friends!
