Tomb of Saint Albert the Great

Tomb of Saint Albert the Great November 15, 2011
Saint Albert, bishop and doctor of the Church, died in the German city of Cologne on the year 1280.  A faithful Dominican friar, he was one of the greatest minds of his times.  As a natural philosopher and theologian, he was not afraid to explore the relationship between science and religion.  He revolutionized contemporary theology with his knowledge of Aristotle and passed this on to his most famous pupil, Saint Thomas Aquinas.
His tomb below is at the Dominican church in Cologne, not too far from the impressive Cathedral of Cologne.

Let us pray.

O God, who made the Bishop Saint Albert great
by his joining of human wisdom to divine faith,
grant, we pray, that we may so adhere to the truths he taught,
that through progress in learning
we may come to a deeper knowledge and love of you.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Saint Albert the Great, pray for us!
