Farewell Sacred Heart

Farewell Sacred Heart June 3, 2012

This weekend was my last official weekend at Sacred Heart.  After preaching at all the Masses there was a beautiful and well attended farewell celebration, I hope to post pictures later this week.  The parish staff wrote a song for me to the tune of The Beatles’ Yesterday, the lyrics are below for your enjoyment!  I loved it.

Now I’m off to a much needed four day silent retreat, I will keep all you my readers in my prayers, please keep me in yours. Now for the song:

Yesterday, all our troubles seemed so far away
Then, that new Bishop, sent you away
Oh, we’re gonna miss yesterday

Suddenly, you’re in Augusta like you used to be
Eating Mom’s cooking, old friends to see
It all looks kind of fishy to me

Why’d you have to go, we don’t know, the Bishop said.
Did we do something wrong or was it Father Fred???

Yesterday, whether English or Spanish was said
You kept us all spiritually fed.
You put the love of God in our head.

Why’d you have to go, we don’t know, the Bishop said.
Did we do something wrong or was it Father Fred???

Yesterday, you taught us all to get along.
So we join together in this song
To remember your lessons of yesterday
