No More!

No More! December 14, 2012

I commit, here and now, to never typing, speaking, or repeating the name of the CT killer, regardless of the coverage the media gives this tragedy. Let his name die from the face of the earth, and deny him and all who would act like him the infamy they so desire.

Anyone with me? Feel free to c/p.

I’m sick of feeding the twisted machine that creates these monsters.

Update: A friend objected to my post out of concern that it dehumanizes the shooter, who is, after all, an immortal soul in need of our prayer as well. This was my reply:

“…my concern is not so much to frustrate the killers desire for infamy, as to avoid encouraging copycatting by others who do want that infamy. Chesterton said that the horror of the suicide is not that he wishes to destroy himself, but that he wishes to destroy the whole world. While I think that isn’t exactly true of most suicides, I think that is the mentality at work here, and granting notoriety to the individuals who do go so far as to try to take down as many as they can with them in their despair and madness only encourages more of the same, I’m afraid.
Somewhere, some disturbed, angry, darkened soul is watching all of this, and the devil wants him to believe that if he does something like this, THEN the whole world will notice him, THEN we will all care what he thought and what he felt.
I can – and will – pray for the shooter without knowing his name or anything about him. The only people who need that information are the authorities, the families of the victims, and those who research this horrible things to find out what they can learn to prevent future occurrences.  I don’t need his name or face, you don’t need his name or face, and it isn’t right that he will wind up given more attention and be remembered longer in the public consciousness than any of his victims.”

This is worth watching as well.
